About
We work from what
shipped, not from
who advertised.
Alpaca Sourcing is a Lima based firm that helps foreign buyers of alpaca, vicuna and other fine fibre find suppliers in Peru, from raw fibre and tops to finished garments and home textiles.
The idea
A supplier list is only as good as its source
Directories list whoever paid. Fairs show whoever could afford a booth. Search shows whoever ranks. None of that tells you whether a company shipped a kilo of alpaca last season, at what grade, or to which market.
We start from the other end: the shipments that actually left the country. That is what separates a mill from a trader, and an active exporter from a website.
We take no commission from suppliers. The buyer pays us, so the list is not arranged to favour anyone.
On the ground
Who we serve
Two sides of the same shipment
Primary: the foreign buyer. Anyone importing, or considering importing, product made with these fibres. Raw material through finished goods. You want supply, grade, minimums and a reference price.
Secondary: the Peruvian exporter. If you sell fibre, you want to know who is buying abroad and at what price the market is closing.
Same data, read from opposite ends.
The house
Part of a group that has done this before
Alpaca Sourcing is the fibre specialist of a small group of trade intelligence brands working out of Lima. The sister brands cover other Peruvian trade flows. This one does fibre, and only fibre: alpaca, baby alpaca, royal alpaca, suri, vicuna, llama and fine wool.
Narrow on purpose. A generalist cannot tell you what a micron is worth.
